KCNA
Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate
The Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) certification validates foundational knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. This certification demonstrates understanding of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) ecosystem and the fundamentals of Kubernetes architecture and operations.
The exam covers five key domains: Kubernetes Fundamentals (46%), Container Orchestration (22%), Cloud Native Architecture (16%), Cloud Native Observability (8%), and Cloud Native Application Delivery (8%). Candidates must demonstrate understanding of Kubernetes API primitives, pods, deployments, services, container basics, orchestration principles, microservices architecture, observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana, and application delivery patterns including GitOps.
The KCNA exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions administered online over 90 minutes, with a passing score of 75%. This certification is ideal for application developers, DevOps engineers, students, and IT professionals who want to demonstrate their foundational knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. The KCNA serves as an excellent stepping stone to more advanced Kubernetes certifications like CKA and CKAD.
